Under Dr. Sophy M. Laughing’s leadership at The Cobeal Group, and later through Hollsten Enterprises, she directed and supported offshore engineering and marine infrastructure work across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas. Her portfolio included single point mooring systems, subsea pipelines, floating production infrastructure, marine terminals, refurbishment campaigns, and early-stage offshore engineering for complex energy programs.

At The Cobeal Group, this work included CALM Buoy and SPM projects in the Caspian Sea, Borneo, India, Brunei, Malaysia, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, and Mexico. The scope included EPC and EPCI support, interface engineering, installation planning, fabrication oversight, structural review, load analysis, anchor spread coordination, and subsea pipeline planning. These assignments were carried out in active production settings and major marine corridors in coordination with Swiber, Pape Engineering, and operators including Murphy Oil, Petronas Carigali, Star Energy, ONGC, Brunei Shell, and PEMEX.

Her work centered on engineering systems for operability, installation, continuity, and long-term performance. It included planning and coordinating offshore delivery in deepwater and high-traffic environments, supporting marine logistics, aligning technical interfaces, and advancing energy infrastructure with strong safety and compliance standards.

Through Hollsten Enterprises, founded by Dr. Sophy in Singapore, she extended this work into a dedicated offshore engineering platform serving projects across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia in collaboration with Principia. These assignments focused on early-phase design, technical validation, third-party review, procurement interface, structural assessment, mooring review, mobilization planning, and procedural development for offshore systems.

This portfolio included support for Dubai Petroleum, Perenco, Naval Group, North Oil Company, Mermaid, QPD, Ramboll, and other major industry participants. The work covered mooring refurbishment, jack-up barge concepts, pigging operations, berthing platforms, floating storage and transfer systems, jackets-based mooring foundations, and marine terminal concepts in steep seabed conditions.

Across this body of work, Dr. Sophy helped bring complex offshore programs from concept and engineering review into execution readiness. Her leadership reflects substantial experience in cross-border delivery, technical coordination, marine systems planning, fabrication interface, and infrastructure development for long-life offshore assets.

Dr. Sophy M. Laughing’s offshore and infrastructure leadership is marked by an exceptional safety record. Across high-risk engineering, fabrication, and installation environments, the teams she led and supported logged more than 1.5 million man-hours with no incident reported. That record reflects disciplined planning, strong field coordination, rigorous execution controls, and a leadership standard that placed safety at the center of project delivery.

That standard is evident at the project level. On the EPCI of the CALM Buoy for the Vantage FSO in KrisEnergy’s Wassana Field Block G10/48 in the Gulf of Thailand, the installation campaign was completed with no incident reported across more than 135,000 man-hours. This outcome speaks to careful execution, operational discipline, and the ability to manage complex offshore work with precision.

Across Dr. Sophy’s career, safety has been inseparable from performance. Her teams delivered technically demanding infrastructure while maintaining control in environments shaped by marine exposure, heavy lifting, active operations, and strict execution requirements. The result was not only successful project delivery, but a record of work completed responsibly, reliably, and with every person accounted for.

This portfolio reflects the design, fabrication, and installation of single point mooring (SPM) systems delivered across multiple geographies and operating environments over more than a decade. The work includes production and offloading buoy systems supporting floating storage and offloading vessels (FSOs), with capacities ranging from 35,000 to 250,000 DWT.

Projects span EPC and EPCI delivery, as well as refurbishment programs, and include associated pipeline and PLEM installation, mooring integration, and offshore connection systems. Engineering parameters addressed across these programs include high-pressure systems (up to 46 bar), varying water depths from 20 to 75 meters, and both single and dual-path pipeline configurations.

The body of work demonstrates consistent execution across new-build and refurbishment scopes, supporting continuous offshore production and transfer operations. It reflects experience in delivering mooring systems that integrate structural design, subsea interface, and installation sequencing into complete offshore solutions.
